Cinnamon, spice, and everything home-warmingly delicious fills the air when you slowly cook down 10 lbs of apples into apple butter.
Did you find yourself receiving holiday gifts from certain friends you didn't include in your gifting plans. No worries. Why not cook up some Start The Year Off Right gifts that you can whip up this weekend. Apple butter is a please-all gift for any foodie and an automatic "welcome to my home" aromatic scent. No candle or potpourri necessary. Plus, despite the time of year, you can still get good apples in most any grocery store or farmers market.
It takes this many apples to....
..make this much apple butter.
Oh the power over apples you have! Get the APPLE BUTTER recipe here.
I canned mine in eight 4 oz jars. The apple butter will keep, covered, in the fridge for about a month. Delightful on slices of roasted pork, pumpkin bread, muffins, buttered toast, pancakes, or waffles. I like a dab in my oatmeal. Try setting some out with a cheese and cracker plate. How about a peanut butter, apple, and bacon sandwich? Take this recipe a step further and make apple butter butter.
