With Land of the Lost coming to the big screen, we began to wonder about the extinction of some awesome snacks and drinks. Welcome to the Land of the Lost Foods...
Following is a short list of the foods we miss but we've left out of ton. Add everything we're missing in the comments below (with pics if you have them).

LAND OF THE LOST FOODS
Lifesavers Holes
In a thrifty move to utilize every part of the candy, Lifesavers Holes were introduced. You could buy the punched out part of each Lifesaver -- happily captured in a small plastic capsule. While on the topic, whatever happened to Tangerine, Butter Rum, Cinn-O-Mon and Pineapple?

Chocodiles
Twinkies just aren't tasty enough for you? How about dipping them in a chocolate bath? That was basically the sweet essence of the Chocodile.

Surge Soda
Fully-loaded citrus soda... Still. Shaking.

Zima Beer
One of the best reasons to remember 1993 -- Zima was served up as an alternative to beer, and was part of the "AlcoPop" movement. The infamous lemon-lime malt beverage threw in the towel around 2008.

Jello Pudding Pops
"Hey Bill Cosby...what's that? Deeeeelicious!"
Crystal Addictions
Speaking of clear drinks, what about Crystal Pepsi, Crystal Pepsi Lite and Tab Clear?

Keebler's Tato Skins
They got real potatos...AND skins.
Bud Dry
Why Ask Why? Drink Bud Dry! This light lager hit the shelves in 1990 but was soon eclipsed when Bud Ice came on the scene in 1994. Yep -- the guy from The Drew Carey Show...
Cereal Killers
So many more have fallen along the way but these are a few of our faves... What are you missing most?

The McRib
What's not to love about this barbecue experience -- fake pressed meat ribs and all? It's the McDLT for an entirely new generation... McRib Farewell Tour 2006 -- temporary marketing gimmick or hard, cold truth?

And the legend of the McDLT...as told by Jason Alexander:
Orbitz Soda
They had balls to put this out. You can blame Canada for this one which did a great impersonation of bubble tea. Imagine a fruity soda blast with globules of gelatin loosely locked in suspended animation... TASTY!

Yes! Clearly Canadian was great. They came back a couple years ago in a newly designed bottle, because I worked at Winn-Dixie and they carried them. It just wasn't the same though. Smaller bottles and only like 4 flavors. I kinda liked the Tato Skins too. But what I REALLY miss is the limited edition Salsa Verde Doritos. I still think about them almost every time I go grocery shopping.

How about Lime Crusha?
Posted: 22 Sep 2009 19:18:40 GMT ReplyFlag
Chocodiles still exist...as do Honey Smacks and ABC Cereal.
Posted: 22 Sep 2009 19:16:30 GMT ReplyFlag
Chocodiles are still available on the West Coast. I did create a recipe for homemade ones, though, as we are East Coasters. http://coconutlime.blogspot.com/2008/08/homemade-chocodiles.html I miss Boppers which were sticks of peanut butter coated in chocolate and rice crisps.

I don't remember what they were called but they were nacho type chips that came in a can like Pringles. They were so good. I used to love Magic Middles cookies! Mom used to buy us these pizza pocket things that cooked in the toaster- sort of like a Hot Pocket except they were round and so much better than a Hot Pocket. REAL barley pop lollipops shaped like Christmas trees or Easter bunnies.

Why don't they bring back Crystal Pepsi,Lifesaver Holes and the Orbitz soda?
Posted: 13 Jun 2009 04:33:01 GMT ReplyFlag
Two words... Magic Middles How I've longed to have those chocolate filled chocolate chip cookies again. And thinking of cookies, there used to be some called Monster Bites (where it looked like someone took a bite out of the cookie already). Those were a favorite of my sister's when we were growing up...

Chocodiles in the local gas stations... I would love a Taco Light from Taco Bell
Posted: 8 Jun 2009 21:43:45 GMT ReplyFlag
I miss Taco Lights. They were my favorite back in the college days. I had a friend whoworked at Taco Bell and she said that they had to quit selling them because the shells broke all of the time and it was their policy to not sell "broken tacos".

I loved Hooch - an alcoholic beverage made from ale. I guess it was kinda like Zima, but was orange colored and flavored. I still keep hoping someone will bring it back :)
Posted: 6 Jun 2009 22:28:40 GMT ReplyFlag
I remember that drink.. was really good... i remember singing the song Hooch while drinking it
Posted: 8 Jun 2009 22:58:13 GMT Flag
I'd sign the FB petition to bring that back...
Posted: 7 Jun 2009 01:11:53 GMT Flag
I know I am old... but I miss " FIZZIES" so much. We used to pop those things in our mouth instead of water and let them foam all over, mom would hate it when we walked in with purple, orange, green, brown faces. These were like the first sugar free drink out there and you got to make it yourself and watch it "fizz".

I really miss Nabisco Ideal bars. They only sold them in the winter. Put them in the frig and um good!
Posted: 6 Jun 2009 20:03:27 GMT ReplyFlag

Posted: 6 Jun 2009 14:03:46 GMT ReplyFlag
Actually you can buy both of these products at any Cracker barrel restaurant
Posted: 6 Jun 2009 17:06:09 GMT Flag
So, where's the list of where to find Orbitz drinks and stuff?

Posted: 17 Jul 2009 15:57:20 GMT Flag
I miss it, too. My mom used to let me buy it as a "treat." You might like Izze. It's pretty good.

Posted: 5 Jun 2009 18:34:59 GMT ReplyFlag

Skybar (http://www.necco.com/OurBrands/Default.asp?BrandID=11) is still around, but hard to come by; it was introduced in 1938 and my mother has often waxed poetic about memories of her childhood that involved Sky Bar. I would bet—but can't be sure—that Economy Candy (http://www.economycandy.com) on Rivington Street has it; I'm just not sure if I saw it the last time I was there. (They have so much candy!)

Looking at the lost cereals, just to let you know that Honey Smacks are still going strong here in Northern California. Have a box in the pantry just waiting to be eaten....
Posted: 5 Jun 2009 16:56:20 GMT ReplyFlag
I miss bubblegum toothpaste. I used to eat it all the time when I was a little kid.
Posted: 5 Jun 2009 16:40:00 GMT ReplyFlag
I just bought a package of butter rum lifesavers the other day(Dad always bought those). Some of those cereals are still around, just bought the kids Honey Smacks a couple of weeks ago. Anyone remember Marathon candy bars? I remember walking up to the Lil' General(convenience store) with my Mom and brother and getting one for a dime.
Posted: 5 Jun 2009 15:25:38 GMT ReplyFlag
Duncan Hines truffle brownie mix was absolutely fabulous as well as their bran muffin mix with the crunchy topping. (Yum) I miss wintergreen lozenges and rarely see them anymore. In the 50's and 60's Denver had a local flavoring called Pepso. It made the most wonderful snow cones and malts. I miss Zima too! Our entire block loves Zima. Coors should bring it back.
Posted: 5 Jun 2009 15:16:51 GMT ReplyFlag
I don't know if anyone will even remember these candy bars but I really miss Butternut bars. I think they were made by Hershey's. Does anyone out there know where I can get some? Those were the best candy bars ever.

Posted: 5 Jun 2009 14:26:11 GMT ReplyFlag
what about Bawls? The clear, high-caffeine soda with Guarana in a studded blue-glass bottle? -- it was actually good! what about the orange juice flavored cereal? it was a very brief stint & I can't remember the name of it at all! what about smileys? or were they giggles? the oreo-like sandwich cookies that had smiling faces cut out of them what about Burple drink mix? the different flavored Kool-Aid type powdered drink mixes that came in the expandable bottles Keebler Elves used to make microwave s'mores that were individually wrapped and you microwaved for 20 seconds and it was gooey and the marshmallow puffed up...very yummy MicroFast(?) made a line of 'fast food' type products that you could microwave in individual servings -- like hamburgers/cheeseburgers, crinkle fries, milkshakes... AND does anyone remember the rainbow-colored smiley face cereal with a comic book printed on the box? I want to remember that at least one, if not more, pages folded out off of the box too
Posted: 5 Jun 2009 14:21:30 GMT ReplyFlag

I'm not sure if these are still around in other places, but Hires Root Beer, Kick, Squeez its, whatchamacallits, Caramellos, Skor bars, those hostess fruit pies, that dino burger for the flintstones movie..
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 22:18:01 GMT ReplyFlag
I live on the East coast and we have the barrels around and the candy bars but not kick or squeez it.. love the fruit pies
Posted: 8 Jun 2009 23:04:21 GMT Flag
I still see caramellos, skors and whatchamacallit. But some of these things may be still apparent in some places but not all. Like I loved me some golden circle bread and I can't find that here in Denver. I used to live on the East Coast when I ate that.

The snax I miss the MOST are Willy Wonka Scrunch bars and sour cream and onion Chipos. Both cause me to salute the 80's, and I would ABSOLUTLEY LOVE to see both products reimerge into the junk food choices of today.
