Wow -- is this the frozen confectionary breakthrough of the year? The decade? Coldstone is about to release ice cream that doesn't melt. No, this sweet wonder simply transforms into JELL-O pudding...
Pictured: Butterscotch Velvet Cone
Coldstone Tastemaster (how do we apply for this job?), Ray Karam, has been working with JELL-O pudding in rigorous taste tests to create a sweet frozen treat that "...has a mouth feel much like a velvety mousse."
When your bowl of freshly-scooped Coldstone sits at room temperature for a while, an amazing transformation occurs. The ice cream skips melting and turns into pudding instead (or so the legend goes).
Coldstone is releasing four flavors that will only be available for a limited time -- in locations from June 3rd until July 28th (SO DON'T DROP THE BALL -- get over there!). Find your closest location here.

To compliment the cutting-edge ice cream, Coldstone also has two new creations to showcase the flavors:
Butterscotch Velvet -- Butterscotch JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream mixed with Butterfinger, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and Caramel.
Chocolatel-y Goodness -- Chocolate JELL-O Pudding Ice Cream mixed with Peanut Butter, Caramel and Fudge.

Recipes for the new flavors are going up on the Coldstone Creamery site so you can make ice cream sandwiches, JELL-O pudding ice cream pops and snacks at home.

Ice cream that doesnt melt? I'm all over that! The date for this year's free Ice Cream Social is September 24, 2009 - http://www.orwish.org/make-a-wish/foundation/more/835/

Ice cream that turns into pudding isn't ice cream - it is frozen pudding. Isn't this why they invented tupperware home-popsicle kits? So you could freeze chocolate pudding, and have a really fantastic fudgcicle? Coulda sworn that happened like twenty years ago at least.

I've just tried this about a week ago and it was really disgusting. It is as if someone took cold whipped cake batter and dunked it into eggwhites; quite aerated and weirdly slimy. I had the butterscotch version and it was incredibly sweet and the slimy texture totally turned me off. I got 5 bites down then had to donate it to my boyfriend, who likewise, had a really hard time getting it down. I wouldn't call it "ice cream" by any stretch of the imagination. So sure, it doesn't melt into drips, it melts into a puddle of slime. Sorry to be redundant, but honestly, that's the only word I can find that can describe the ooze. I'm certainly glad this is an "only for a limited time" offer!

Cold Stone is giving away free ice cream! I'll have to take my coupon and try this "non-melting" ice cream. http://www.coxtvadstudio.com/bufferpages/0833_cold_stone_creamery/

Wow, that is very creative!

Cold Stone already has an ice cream that doesn't melt. It's their fat-free (sinless sans fat) ice cream. Seriously, buy some and then go put it out on the asphalt and see what happens. It doesn't melt, it doesn't cook, it just sort of slithers away. That can't be good for anybody! P.S. Try it with walnuts and double graham cracker crust. The poor schmuck behind the counter will love you for this. NOT! (These are three ingredients that even in an industrial-strength blender will resist bonding beyond all natural laws of physics.)

WOW they never stop! I worked for Coldstone in Syr NY for almost 4 yrs and the biggest thing they came out with was the cake batter icecream at the time, I tottally agree that there prices should be lowered they have come out with some really weird flavors that never made it one that even had horseradish in it. I dont see this making that far or at least not in Syr NY do to there ice cream now tastes like dirt.

THE NO MELT ICE CREAM SOUNDS GROSS. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHY COLD SOTNE THINKS THAT IS GOING TO BRING THEM MORE BUSINESS. IF THEY WANT MORE BUSINESS THEY SHOULD LOWER THEIR REDICULOUS PRICES.

*Pudding not Jello
Posted: 5 Jun 2009 14:50:00 GMT ReplyFlag
I dont see why everyone is so upset about it. Who cares if it turns to Jello?? It's not like it's going to be the only ice cream available. If you don't like it, don't eat it; it's very simple.

Are we sure it's not just frozen pudding?
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 18:44:47 GMT ReplyFlag
Why would I want my ice-cream to turn into Jell-O? The whole idea is that it melts. Otherwise it just becomes some retarded idea that stupid people try to impose on other stupid people trying to make them think it's something special. I WANT MY DAMN ICE CREAM TO BE NATURAL.

If they make a coffee flavor, I'm in!
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 15:29:38 GMT ReplyFlag
Whatever is in the ice cream to make it do that - I don't want any part of that! One of my favorite things about ice cream is the fact that it melts.

Dude... you would absolutely LOVE ice.

What the hell is in it and how will it give me cancer?

Exactly.

Icecream melts?
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 05:54:42 GMT ReplyFlag
this shit looks scary... its bad enough i was eating some polysorbate 80 (or some shit like that) in my old ice cream... lets push the natural, yet healthy shit... not the fake science, "make you fatter faster" bullshit.

I like chocolate chip mint ice cream. mmmm
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 02:08:19 GMT ReplyFlag
I really think they should stop messing with food. I'm sorry, but this doesn't sound appealing. Ice cream melts, that's the nature of things that are frozen. What exactly is wrong with ice cream, because it melts? I don't frequent cold stone often, but if they switch their ice cream to this type, I won't be back.
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 01:28:15 GMT ReplyFlag
nahh, Just the people who "did" that kind of "melting" icecream SUCKS at making it.
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 04:26:48 GMT Flag
my thoughts exactly... u r so right.
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 03:15:29 GMT Flag
Chocolate was a disappointment (melted in minutes) but I cannot believe the butterscotch is holding up (going on 4 hours) and it's really turning into pudding. Cool and scary!
Posted: 3 Jun 2009 21:12:31 GMT ReplyFlag
4 hours in :O Houston, we've got pudding.

I agree with Cozmobotics down there, give me a cone that melts into world peace, or a dinosaur and we're in business. This isn't an advancement at all! This is why we are loosing vital footing globally, to emerging countries like China and India. We just aren't bringing our "A" game to the arena of really cold dairy treats... Man. Good talk guys
Posted: 3 Jun 2009 21:01:26 GMT ReplyFlag
I agree with GreatJustice, grow up hippy even if we actually become China I don't think we'll be able to make an icecream cone into world peace and I do say that filthy hippies like you are part of the problem not the solution!! :I
Posted: 4 Jun 2009 08:15:32 GMT Flag
It's ice cream you filthy hippie... get over your sense of self-righteousness

ice cream that doubles as a chemical peel when you get it on your face. removes lines and tastes good.

I still like my old Ice Cream That Transforms Into soup.

What additives and preservatives have been added.
Posted: 3 Jun 2009 18:49:28 GMT ReplyFlag
Gelatin would be my guess. Just in case you're not familiar with this repellent additive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelatin

I'll take Ben and Jerry's that melts over coldstone ice/pudding anyday.
Posted: 3 Jun 2009 18:45:29 GMT ReplyFlag
Why is this news? The entire reason you are able to buy home popsicle molds is so you can freeze pudding to eat it on a stick. Give me ice cream that melts into actual gelatinous Jello, and I'll be impressed. Freezing pudding and calling it revolutionary when it melts and is still pudding? Bite me.

well..i used to work at Cold Stone & Creamery, i loved the ice cream there. hmm, i dont know why yalls ice cream turned into pudding. did yall left it out in the room temperature? ice cream are not "all" perfect. plus, it depends on who can make their ice cream the best.if they mixed it too much, i'll look like a pudding. if they mixed it up quick & fast, it's a no problemo ice cream.
